2017 Cubmaster Letter
Happy 2017-2018 school year everyone!
My name is TJ Spahr, Cubmaster of Pack 628, and I want to personally welcome new scouts, family, and friends to a year packed with planned activities! I am looking forward to another year of fun-filled adventures for all our Cubs. I have two Cubs in the Pack – Tate, a Webelos, and Jackson, a Wolf – as well as a son in the Boy Scouts and a daughter in the Girl Scouts.
We are very fortunate in Pack 628 to be based in a supportive community with many resources and opportunities for adventure and learning. Trails, beaches, and water make for exciting backdrops for our many events, such as community trail clean-up, fishing derbies, and movie nights. The Pack provides numerous opportunities throughout for traditional scouting activities that many of us think about when we remember scouts – overnighters, campfires, fishing, BBs, archery, slingshots, hiking, boating, and even resident camps in the summer. But we scouts do not overlook the needs of today and include activities in the area of internet safety with our Cubs earning IT “Cyber Chips” as well as STEAM opportunities, which can lead to chances to earn a STEAM medal.
Our pack continues to be represented well at the District level, consistently meeting our pack-commitments and participating in noble acts like Scouting for Food. Our Pack Committee Chairperson, Dory LeCroy, also serves as our liaison at the district level and also served as the Camp Director for our district’s two summer day camps this year.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve another year as Cubmaster. I look forward to meeting the new scouts and watching cubs grow together!
Yours in Scouting,
Cubmaster, Pack 628
